We architect and implement software for the Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD) with Web Standards, J2EE and Oracle technologies using best practices and design patterns.
We also analyze requirements, and design, document and implement the data model.
CTD provides advanced search and visualization capabilities for 40 GB of biological data.
KateWegner.com
Using Web Standards, we designed and maintain this promotional web site for recording artists Kate Wegner and Chuck Donnelly.
NicoleHerz.com
Using Web Standards and Perl CGI, we designed and maintain promotional web sites for this small business and visual artist.
We provided data architecture advice and data model and Oracle code reviews to this Internet-based subscription music service.
At LivePerson.com, we analyzed requirements and designed and maintained the data model which supported the company's online, real-time customer service chat, email and FAQ systems. LivePerson is an application service provider ("ASP"), and the data model elegantly allowed a single database to be shared by all LivePerson clients, each with their own configuration and localization settings (e.g., time zone and language). This internationalized model was ready for a planned strategy to implement multi-master replication among globally-distributed databases.
The LivePerson database was able to capture and timestamp every user action in the real-time application--all within an optimized Third Normal Form structure. In addition, because business concepts were generalized to an appropriate level, new product features were added without significant data model changes.
We also implemented a complex but robust process to clean and migrate data from an old, limited data model into our improved model, and we led the design of an innovative method to migrate data from SQL Server to Oracle.
Finally, we created several hundred stored procedures and triggers (in just three weeks) to support the designed system, and we designed a data mart to facilitate reporting functions.
At Sony Music Entertainment, we were responsible for, among other things, gathering requirements and designing and maintaining a data model and database to support all Internet applications of sonymusic.com and its related artist and recording label Web sites (including columbiarecords.com, epicrecords.com and legacyrecordings.com). Those applications included a business-to-business Web site for distributing product artwork, publicity and sales information, as well as a three-tiered application which allows hundreds of artist and label Web sites to display common data elements (e.g., tour dates, release schedules, news items, etc.) in a flexible, customized format.
We also created a fault-tolerant system to integrate legacy business data with Internet-specific data in an Oracle RDBMS. Data was updated daily without requiring down-time in the Internet applications.
Bantam Doubleday Dell Online
At AT&T's Downtown Digital, we analyzed, designed, implemented and maintained the data model and database (Sybase) supporting the book catalog and other features of the first Bantam Doubleday Dell Web site. The database was populated regularly with data extracted, cleaned and augmented from legacy systems using a process designed by us.
